Ian Aitken

The current Kew FC head coach is Ian Aitken.

Following his AFL career at both Carlton (premiership player in 1987) and St Kilda, Ian has played and coached at various clubs including a Senior A-Grade premiership at Strathmore (1998) in the EDFL. Read more about his career below.

Ian has maintained local involvement in the Kew Rovers and Kew Comets junior football clubs.

In 2013 the club will align with the GWS Giants and form the KEW GIANTS, a JV club of Kew Comets and Kew Rovers. This pathway JV from the two junior clubs will enhance the footy experience for the boys and provide a greater community and “sense of club and belonging” with more numbers and a better alignment of the boys’ capabilities with the YJFL model.  View more Kew Giants information.

“I am very excited about the challenge and opportunity to coach Kew and l look forward to working with our current list and any new players to make Kew a very strong team in the VAFA.  I am still coaching the u17 Kew Colts on a Sunday and will be working hard to ensure there is a strong and clear pathway for our junior players to head towards when the time is ready.  Kew has a long and proud history and we need to work hard to keep the Kew flame burning proudly.”
